After three maternity sessions, I finally got to meet the baby in the bump!
It’s so much fun taking photos of this beautiful family from Brazil.

Newborn/Family Portraits: Fabio & Fabi’s New Arrival
July 15, 2010Medical Mission at Calvary Chapel Bataan
July 3, 2010My church, Harvest Christian Fellowship, which is a sister church of and was established by Calvary Chapel, organized a Medical Mission for June 12 at Calvary Chapel Bataan. We were there to provide free medical and dental care for the people in a community there, but our main goal was to spread the good news of the Gospel. Some wonderful folks from Calvary Chapel South Bay joined us that day to entertain and teach the children about God’s love.
We all started the day at 3 AM with a briefing at church and loaded the bus with all the supplies and then we were off to Bataan.

When we got there, there was a lot of unloading and loading of supplies and for some, a short jeepney ride up the hill going to the church...

Most of us were huffing and puffing up the hill, while others who were in better shape had no problems at all!
We arrived with a lot of unpacking, organizing and preparations to do.

The folks from Calvary Chapel South Bay organize all the evangelistic material they brought with them to be given away to the people there.
Before we opened the doors to the patients, we began with prayer and worship:

And finally, we began accepting the patients who pre-registered:

Entrance to the church/registration area (left) and the pharmacy section (right). There was SO much medicine! Much more than was needed!

This elderly woman received new reading glasses and upon trying them out and being able to see much better, she raised her hands in the air and cried, "Alleluiah! Thank you, Lord!"

In the meantime, the children enjoyed face painting, balloon sculptures, watching skits and other fun activities all while learning about Jesus Christ:
Here are a few images in the evangelism area, where groups of two or three were sharing the Gospel to all who sought medical care there:

Some more shots of the people who came over that day:

I’m so grateful that God gave our church this opportunity to serve Him! Although I was barely able to interact with the people around me and my role was not even half as important as all the other volunteers, I am still glad that I was there and able to contribute to this somehow. All I can hope for is that the photos speak to you, dear viewer, and inspire you to serve our Savior, as well. If you do not know Him, I urge you take the time to do learn about His gift of salvation.
Some statistics from our mission that day:
- 101 received medical care
- 13 had their blood sugar tested
- 59 acquired reading glasses
- 30 got haircuts
- 71 had tooth extractions (at an average of 3 teeth per patient, that’s over 200 teeth between two dentists!)
- 250 heard the gospel
Thank you, Lord, for making the mission a success and letting it all happen!
I pray that God allows me to have more opportunities to shoot more events like these.
